Top 3 tips to throw a memorable starry night New Year's party
Date Created: 12/21/2011
While most people are gearing up for Christmas and Hanukkah, the next big holiday around the corner is New Year's Eve. If you're throwing a New Year's 2012 party this year, ambiance should be one of your top considerations, so why not deck out your space in a starry night aesthetic to use decorative lights and star-themed accents to your advantage? There are countless ways to incorporate these shapes into your party decorations and cuisine, so keep the following tips in mind to wow your guests when they walk through the door.
1. Ceiling decorations. Your guests should be able to see a symphony of stars when they look up at your ceiling, and creating this look is a lot easier than you'd think. Use a large piece of black paper and cut out small stars of varying shapes along the surface. Then hang it underneath your lighting fixtures or use a few white LED rope lights to create a larger dispersal of light and avoid a fire hazard. This will be a jaw-dropping addition to your party decorations and will be the focal point of your space.
2. A star-themed serving area. Head out and purchase a few inexpensive star-shaped bowls and dishes that can hold chips and dip, veggies or anything else you have in mind. You can also spruce up the look of your serving table with vibrant streamers, curling ribbon, party centerpieces and other New Year's 2012 party supplies. Additionally, using party tableware and imprinted napkins will help to make cleanup much easier at the end of the night, and you can even encourage your guests to clean off their plates and recycle them.
3. Sparklers. When the ball is about to drop, be sure to hand out some sparklers to your guests in anticipation of the final countdown. These engaging additions will match beautifully with your theme and will make for some dazzling photo opportunities when the clock finally strikes midnight.
There are countless themes to choose from with New Year's Eve on the horizon, but a starry theme could provide plenty of decorative potential and a stunning setting to ring in the new year. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture all of the action and throw together some starry party favors to give your guests a charming memento of your bash.
