Throw a Sweetest Day party to sample all your favorite sugary delights
Date Created: 09/29/2011
As if Halloween on the horizon wasn't exciting enough for candy lovers, October 16th is National Sweetest Day, a celebration of all things sugar and otherwise. While the holiday was started by a group of Cleveland confectioners in 1921 as an obvious marketing ploy, they certainly gave people a perfect reason to throw a fabulous fall party.
The holiday does have charitable roots. The original organizers of Sweetest Day encouraged people to bring candy and other treats to those who were less fortunate. You can carry on this tradition by bringing some sweets to your local soup kitchen or shelter in an effort to brighten someone's day.
Much like the candy you and your guests will be enjoying, make sure your venue is vibrant and festive for the occasion. Use colorful streamers, mylar balloons, personalized banners and other fall party supplies to infuse your setting with a festive atmosphere.
Be sure to give your guests party favors to take home with them. Personalized chocolate bars, mint tins and cookie tin favors will give your friends something to munch on long after your Sweetest Day celebrations have come to a close.
