Mardis Gras is just around the corner
Date Created: 01/31/2011
Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday) is traditionally the last time people could eat delectable, rich foods before the ritual fasting of Lent. As we all know, Mardi Gras has grown into a huge celebration that spans continents and brings people together for a day of raucous fun.
Food is a staple of many Mardi Gras parties, and you can create any number of Cajun and Creole dishes to keep with the authenticity of the celebration. Gumbo is a perfect choice that you can cook with seafood, poultry or vegetarian ingredients.
In an homage to the celebration in New Orleans, you can elect a King and Queen of your Mardi Gras party. Give the award to the person who is decked out in the most beads and festive garb to encourage your guests to dress to impress.
The predominant colors of Mardi Gras are purple, green and gold, and you can incorporate these colors into your decorations very easily. Mylar balloons, imprinted napkins and streamers can add the burst of color you're looking for.
Party centerpieces, pinatas and party tableware are Mardis Gras party supplies that are essential to make clean-up easy and to add whimsical accents to your festivities.
