Encourage your guests to come dressed in their frightening best for your Halloween party
Date Created: 10/06/2011
Halloween is one of the most exciting times of the year for people who love to dress up in costumes and show off their creativity, but for a few individuals, the comical nature of some get- ups is missing the point of the holiday. Halloween is about trying to craft the spookiest and most frightening costume and setting possible, so if you're one of these people, make this style a prerequisite for your get-together. Not only will your guests come up with some terrifying outfits, but this aesthetic will stick with the spirit of the holiday. When you're decorating your venue for the occasion, keep a few of these accents in mind to wow your guests.
1. Give them a scare before they come in the door. Commission one of your friends to hide inside a pile of leaves or wait in a dark corner of your porch and scare your guests as they come to the front door. After all, it's Halloween and everyone will be a bit jumpy, so this could be an entertaining way to kick off the evening.
2. Put a twist on the standard punch bowl. Instead of breaking out the everyday piece, create a Halloween-themed vessel of your own. You could opt to spray paint one black and intricately paint a serving spoon to look like bones. Another idea is to construct a bowl that looks like a coffin and use red food coloring to make your container look like it's filled with blood. Another tip is to place dry ice inside of your bowl to give the appearance of a witch's brew. Be sure that you have plenty of party tableware, imprinted napkins and other Halloween party supplies handy so that your guests can serve themselves.
3. Ambiance. Look into fog machines and other creepy soundtracks that will give your celebration an eerie vibe as soon as your guests walk in the door. When your ambiance is complete, you can fill in the gaps with mylar balloons, streamers and a few spooky props to create a scary, yet festive, atmosphere for your guests.
Some people simply love going all out with terrifying accents for Halloween, so if you're one of these individuals, there are plenty of ways to get your friends in on the fun.
