Bring the noise to your home with a concert party
Date Created: 06/04/2012
Sometimes even the most loyal fan of an artist misses out on the opportunity to buy tickets for his or her upcoming concert. While you might not be able to replace seeing your favorite band live, you don't have to lament during the day that they roll through your town. Instead, celebrate their arrival with a party at your place.
Send party invitations to all of your friends who also might not have been able to get tickets for the sold out performance. Use images of the band or perhaps their logo on colorful corrugated paper. The more people you invite, the more you will be able to capture that raucous energy found at concerts, so try to garner a large crowd.
Pre-party in the parking lot While you may not be able to get into the venue, it doesn't mean you have to miss the chance to cavort with fellow fans. Sometimes the greatest part of a show is the electric atmosphere beforehand during tailgating. If the concert is right in your town or only a short drive away, pack a cooler and hit the blacktop for a few hours. Then once the concert starts, continue the party back at your home.
Set the mood with decorations Give your party a festive atmosphere with streamers, balloons and curling ribbon. Make a personalized banner of the band's logo using an old band shirt, or if you are artistically inclined, use paint or utilize screen printing tools.
Music and food Some concerts will be broadcast live on the internet. If that is the case, hook your computer up to some speakers and stream the concert. If not, then you can just play all the band's records throughout the course of the night.
The one perk of enjoying your favorite band at home rather than at a venue, is that you aren't forced to pay the exorbitant concession stand prices, and you will be able to eat and drink as much as you want, for far less money. Keep a well-stocked fridge of beer and soda, and try to make all of the food beforehand so you can focus on having fun and enjoying the party.
Throughout the night you can play fun games involving the band such as trivia, or you can test the party goers' true fandom by playing name that tune with some of the artist's lesser-known songs.
