Breast cancer luncheon hosts special guests
Date Created: 10/29/2010
Former President Bill Clinton was the special guest at the Evelyn Lauder's Breast Cancer Research Foundation annual luncheon, which was held Wednesday in New York City.
Women's Wear Daily reports that the former president spoke to the audience about how he has been touched by breast cancer, having lost his own mother to the disease. During the festivities the group handed out more than $33 million dollars to 172 researchers to help assist in finding a cure for the illness.
"I think a cure by 2020 is not unachievable. When it happens, a lot of you can take credit, none more so than Evelyn Lauder," Clinton told the guests.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and although it is wrapping up, that doesn't mean you can't throw your very own Breast Cancer Awareness party.
Some may want to turn their event into a charity party, inviting guests to make donations to help fund breast cancer research. Others may want to honor their loved ones who have beaten the disease.
Both of these ideas can be executed perfectly with the right Breast Cancer Awareness party supplies. Pink is the signature color of the movement, so using balloons and streamers in that hue makes perfect sense. Personalized chocolate bars can be decorated with a picture of the pink ribbon.
