Patriotic Decorations That Inspire You

Create patriotic balloons “patriot pals” if your party includes children. To build one “pal,” select 4 smallish latex balloons in one of your patriotic party colors for the base. Inflate all four to an identical size. Tie stems together to form two pairs of connected balloons, then build the 4-balloon base by twisting the joined stems of one pair around the other. Weight the base by tying a snack-sized baggie of dried beans or rice to the bottom. (Or use star balloon weights.) Inflate a larger balloon in another of your party colors as the head and attach its stem to the top of the base. Decorate the “heads” as desired, perhaps by topping them with patriotic hats, using star stickers as eyes, and/or providing markers and other materials for young guests to finish their “patriot pals” themselves.

To incorporate remembrance of our military families into your patriotic occasion, use a leftover piece of gift wrap, tablecover rolls, or classic crepe roll streamers to cover a cardboard box for guest contributions to your favorite military charity.
